Animal House is ready for its opening day, April 22, for the 8th season of the popular food stand! We are grateful to the loyal customers and the new customers who enjoy our "street food" right here in Richland Center. The crew is eager to serve the popular Chicago Red Hot dogs, the Wisconsin brats, and the Maxwell Street Polish! The April 22, 23, 24 opening days can be a bit interesting re our Wisconsin weather. But we are a hardy crew! The dates for Animal House are posted on the events calendar on this site! We look forward to seeing you for lunch… maybe even breakfast when we open at 9:30 a.m. for happy customers! Thank you!
“Animal House” is a fundraising effort begun in 2007. The little mobile food stand sells Red Hot Chicago dogs, Maxwell Street Polish, and Wisconsin bratwurst sandwiches to hungry customers. The funds raised by sales are used for general needs of the organization with some months targeted to help the Spay Neuter clinics or the Pet Food Pantry. Animal House has dedicated customers who watch carefully for the yellow painted food stand to appear. They love their Red Hot Chicago dogs.
The traditional Chicago style hot dog is an all beef steamed hot dog trimmed with a strip of yellow mustard, signature bright green relish, chopped onion, celery salt, a slice of dill pickle, two slices of tomatoes, and two sport peppers all on a poppy seed bun. The sport peppers are optional for those stomachs somewhat sensitive to the warmer sensation.
The flavor combination of the toppings on the high quality hot dog just have to be experienced to be truly appreciated! It just all works together for a taste treat that cannot be equaled.
(The Red Hot Chicago is not a spicy hot dog… the only spicy sensation is if the sport peppers are added. Probably the Red Hot name is used in reference to the Great Chicago Fire.)
The Maxwell Street Polish sandwich is an all beef grilled polish sausage topped with grilled onions, a strip of mustard, two sport peppers (optional) on a poppy seed bun.
The high quality Wisconsin bratwurst has all the trimmings available… sauerkraut, ketchup, mustard, and onions.
The energetic and friendly Animal House crew assembles your sandwich as you wait.
This is an old fashioned food stand with a limited menu and with custom made sandwiches. Beverages, chips, and cookies are also sold at Animal House.
Please stop in at the corner of Jefferson and West Seminary in Richland Center to enjoy a great sandwich.
Animal House is grateful to Ed's Family Foods for the privilege of parking the little food stand in that parking lot once per month.
